We have been told that evacuees were taught at Meerbrook school.  Does anyone have any information about this?

On the 1841 census there is a George Hine aged 50 who was a farmer at Roach Grange.  His wife was Jane aged 40 and he had 8 children aged between 15 and 1 year old. Most of his neighbours were also farmers and they are down as living in Leekfrith, which is now the name of the parish but was then referred to as the township.  The farm lies a little way outside the present village of Meerbrook and was probably a granary for the local abbey which was just outside Leek at Abbey green.  Hope this helps.
